The last 2 years we have gone on a houseboat trip on Lake Ouachita. The first year we went the first weekend in May and it was super cold. Last year we decided to go over Labor Day weekend and it was perfect, so we decided to go over Labor Day weekend again this year. It's about a 4 hour drive to our destination and then it's 3 relaxing days on the lake. We had perfect weather and great company. Trevor always volunteers to be chef for the trip, so we had burgers and brats the first night with buffalo dip, BBQ chicken the second night with cream corn and prickle dip and tacos the third night. Trevor made us breakfast each morning as well. The best part is, everyone mades some delicious chexmix munchies and we snack on them all day. Loving life and enjoying every moment. I married my best friend and high school sweetheart on June 4, 2011 and life is just getting better and better. We are both in our twenties, love hanging out with our friends, taking our pups on walks, and being close to family. We have 2 ADORABLE and PERFECT puppies named Winston and Whiskey. We purchased our first home in May 2012 and are loving playing house. This blog is mainly for our friends and family to stay updated on our lives and what we are doing.

Swordfish, salmon via cedar which if becoming a favorite way to use the sterile gas grill. This is my third try and only once have the planks physically caught on fire. Close this time. Smoker box in the corner for extra flavor and carcinogens. No marinade of any kind for the salmon. And simple store bought mango marinade for the sword for 10 minutes.

My kefta kebobs on the electric grill. To make this delicious Middle Eastern dish, cut up a slice of white bread into 1/2" pieces, just wet with milk and mash into a paste with a fork. Mix the paste with a pound of ground lamb, a half cup of finely chopped parsley, and about three or four green onions, also finely chopped. Once mixed, form into a ball (wet your hands if you need to), skewer and then flatten into a hot dog shape. Normally I'd add a bit of garlic, too, but it seems I managed to run out and didn't feel like going to the store again. Cook over a hot grill for 10-12 minutes, turning once. Serve with pita bread, and hummus or garlic sauce, and a side of tabouli.
